Custom Home Building

A Vineyard In the Country

Nestled on a hillside in Maryland wine country, this new home was developed as a modern response to the classic farm house style homes located throughout the region.

Designed with principally first floor living in mind, this home features a central country style kitchen and open informal dining and living areas arranged to take advantage of the downslope views. A large stone central fire place and hearth anchors the central living areas. The master living suite is located on the first floor with private exterior deck. Second floor spaces include family and guest bedrooms with dedicated bathroom and laundry amenities. Bedrooms are located to take advantage of views of the nearby mountain ridges. Placed at the lower floor of the home bounded by a stone colonnade is the home wine making facility and collection storage.

A European Inspired Chateau

Drawn from the new European home tradition, this home features a stone entablature, stucco finishes and simple elegant detailing, including a restored black walnut front entry door. The home interior layout is organized around a central hall that opens above to a contemporary second floor gallery suitable for display art. Rooms are organized on major and minor axis, creating organizing focal points and unexpected views. Spaces have been arranged to create light filled living through out the day. A formal public to private transition is established through the home with final access to a expansive exterior deck and outdoor living space oriented to the rear lawn. A central kitchen is established as the hub of the home with free flow to adjacent informal family living, dining and breakfast areas.
